Striking and unusual Art Deco lounging robe of simple rectangular shape with self belt, in raw silk tussah. The garments' back is stenciled and air brushed with a Deco Modernist figure of a female warrior against a full moon. The front has a motif of the sun and clouds. Nicely finished inside with a crochet edging throughout with no closure. Can easily be worn as a summer dress or overdress with its self fabric belt. Excellent Condition, 1920's USA.

This is a beautiful example of a high end peignoir, most likely 1950s but could be up to a decade earlier or later, that is both demure and sexy at the same time. This is more of a shawl than a nightjacket and is of phenomenal quality made from a very fine grade silk tulle. This exceptionally beautiful fabric is worlds away from the cheap nylon versions that are mass produced today. The peignoir is edged in a fine machined floral lace which is entirely hand-stitched onto the tulle.
